Palenie papierosów nie wpływa negatywnie na wygląd świeżego tatuażu. Wiele osób potrafi zapalić, robiąc krótką przerwę w trakcie tatuowania. Faktem jednak jest to, że wieloletnie dostarczanie substancji smolistych zawartych w tytoniu źle wpływa na kondycję skóry, co może przełożyć się na tatuaż.
